Hey nvmys2k-

Hmmm... good question. It's a V-twin, or more precisely, an L-Twin (90 degree offset). These aren't exactly known for their skyhigh redlines- not like the I4 motors of the supersports like the Yamaha R6 or Honda F4 which top out above 13K rpm.

I would think that it's in the neighbourhood of around 9000 rpm. If you look at the torque curves of these bikes you'll see why they're so much fun on the streets. Really, really meaty in the midrange. And- both the 600 and 750 are still air/oilcooled, whereas the other modern Ducati Monster, the 900 and it's veriants, are water cooled. Good fun though!

Ya'll's bikes are awesome. It got me to thinking that I should get one sitting on Jason's. I used to ride dirt bikes when I was a kid, but that was a long time ago and I am not comfortable with how innattentive people are on the road, especially as it relates to cycles.

I may get one, but we'll have to see...

But enjoy yours!!

Juliann-

I NEED it to stop raining... I need to do something outside... this is like winter- work, work, work and no play... So you bringing back the Z-Man tomorrow?

Greg-

We voted. You don't get to buy a motorcycle until you go a year without us hearing about some harrowing experience you had with the S2000- and EVERYONE knows what happened down at the Dragon...

nvmys2k-

Lord knows if the Duc brothers/founders would think that were blasphemous...

Of course we're modding them! The wheels have already been put into motion! We've been talking slipons, jet kits, rear sets, steering dampers, carbon fiber all over... now the bikes ARE an expensive hobby- this will be a multi-year build...

Ducatis- desmodromic valvetrain, Brembos and high pipes...
