Because it's a calculated, targeting weapon, not vague in design, meant to destroy things, most likely controlled remotely similar to a predator drone.
The worm also wasn't controlled remotely. It was put on a few local computers and it eventually made its way inside the plant on its own. On the most superficial level it's like a mole or a hidden transmitter in that it's given initial instructions and dropped behind enemy lines and slowly does its work from inside, acting as a normal object/individual.
Still, that's superficial at best. It's better than a missile, though. They threw it in because 50% of their readers hardly know how to use a computer and wouldn't begin to be able to conceptualize the actual concept of a worm. So, they throw in sensationalist phrases like "Cyber Missile" to excite people and have them conjure up images from movies of "hackers" as portrayed by Hollywood. It's a vicious cycle in that people who don't know much about computers have this misguided idea of how things work that only confuses them further. Ultimately, this isn't that big of a deal, I know; but it's something that grinds my gears every time I see it.
I really shouldn't expect more from the same group responsible for "hackers on steroids"/"internet hate machine."
@zzziippyyy: I'm not going to argue about something so petty. I'll just say there wasn't a shred of seriousness in Wildncrazy when he mentioned Norton. He didn't actually think Norton could prevent it. I'm sure you'll play it off like you knew that all along, but I'm not trying to go back and forth about it.
Embedded in different section of the code is another common computer language reference, but this one is misspelled. Instead of saying “DEADFOOT,” a term stolen from pilots meaning a failed engine, this one reads “DEADFOO7.”
Yes, OO7 has returned -- as a computer worm.

fkkin insane. This is probably the best read I've had in a while. ALthough half those things went over my head..I gotta say, the basic idea is amazing.
Lots and lots of props to whoever was able to do it. My take? Entire western world worked together to do this, in some form or another.
gg Iran...you've been hax0rd.
