Default NEED ADVICE!

ok, heres whats up, im a senior in highschool and every senior at my school has to do a senior project, u gotta write a paper and have a product and do a presentation

well what i was thinking was to try and convert my car over to run off of ethanol, a fuel that burns hotter and cleaner than gasoline, and it is made from corn, so its gonna be cheaper than gas

i was wondering what u guys think of this idea, like how would it be done if it can be in the first place, and if u guys think its a good idea

If the car you want to convert is an S2K, I hope no one responds. That seems sacrilegious.

If it's a Civic or a Beetle or something, well, I have to say, this is an ambitious senior project. And I bet it's been done and there's information somewhere online. Did you try a lot of Google searches yet? HPH

Recent report stated that it takes more energy to make a gallon of ethanol then is contained in it; IE is only a viable fuel because of artificial government subsidies. Its pretty amazing how much useless technology has been created to take advantage of a fuel that makes no sense to produce.

not to be negative but you wont be able to do it. alcohol is much more dangerous to work with, its corrosive, need a lot more fuel to make the same power and good luck finding a supply. youll need huge injectors, probably a mech fuel pump, huge lines and fuel rail, an EMS, a tuner, youll need to build the motor for very high compression, etc. $$$

please prove me wrong though, i would love to see you succeed

Maybe he wants an excuse to have lots of ethanol on hand! Drink up and party hard...

"Oh Mom, I need that ethanol to run my car... pay no attention to the drunk, naked girls in the back of my car...."

I don't think he'll be able to purchase the ethanol until he's 21 anyway....

"If it was easy, people would be doing it."

well obviously it takes more energy to produce than it contains, every source of energy is exactly the same way. the thing with sources like this is that its renewable, fossil fuel isnt. i think a hit in efficiency is worth knowing that we are still going to have a source 100 years from now.
