Where as a Fender Strat has 3 single coil pickups.
Humbuckers tend to give a warmer richer sound which is good for metal and other types of heavier music. (popular opinion)
Single Coil pickups have a brighter twangy sound to them.
I have an Ibanez RG 470 and love it Ive also owned a Mexican Strat and Epiphone
Les Paul.
Get the RG.

After a few hours of playing around with different guitars, I think I have it narrowed to the Ibanez RG370DX in electric blue. I'm getting a smoking deal so that makes it even sweeter.

nice choice ... i think it's worth it to spend a little more for this one ... if just for the EDGE III bridge. the tremolo bridge on this one is waaay better than the one on the first ibanez you were considering. with locking tuners and all too, you can go crazy with dive bombs!
