Nephew's first Bday!
My son turns 1 on the 20th, and if anyone bought him a $100 to $200 gift, it would have to be something that will last/be used till he's much older. Let's put it this way, we have a bunch of different toys for him to play with, and he'd rather play with bottles, shoes, his own clothes after changing him, any of my ball caps, the TV remotes, etc, than ever playing with his own toys.
If you must, maybe volunteer to buy his Xmas outift (which could be pretty pricey) otherwise, find a novelty type shop. We have one around us that takes a plain gift and then personalizes with some cool art/painting. The piggy bank idea is a good one, but if you find the right shop, you'll have an endless selection.
