Trust me, that's not a bad thing. Not a bad thing at all.

Oct 31 = Dec 25:
31 in octal (that's base 8 numbers) is equal to 3 * 8^1 + 1 * 8^0 = 25 in decimal (base 10 numbers, the type we are used to seeing).

As for the second one, the binary (that's base 2 numbers) represantation of 2 (decimal) is "10" (1 * 2^1 + 0 * 2^0).
