Default New CRV

Am I imagining it, or is the 2002 CR-V just ugly as hell? The big badges together with the newly designed rear end are just Ugleeeee!

Well I'm not sure if I could jump to the word 'ugly' but 'bland as hell' sure has come to my mind.
If you want 'ugly' I think you ought to take a look at the Model X:

It's not that bad in my opinion ... Not to mention, you get i-VTEC in this new series. The torque on the older CRV is already amazing, now I simply can't imagine the new one at work.

Strange, I was just looking at the new CR-V on Edmunds.com and thought it looked kind of nice. Anyway, I don't think it's you--a lot of people are put-off by its so-called generic styling. I, on the other hand, am a big fan of Honda's designs. Where most people see an absence of style, I see a purposeful minimalist design language that implies and suggests rather than hits you over the head. ( just getting out of a 8 hour project planning meeting makes one say funny things). The RAV-4 on the other hand, I find gaudy and too overt in its styling. Its design statement says it's more than a car, it's a hip lifestyle that will be imparted to you if you drive one--something Honda makes fun of in the new CR-V commercials.

i think the new CRV is a huge improvement over the last... it's much better mechanically as well. we've all been spoiled by the looks of the s2k... nothing can compare, but really, i think the CRV is a sweet looking mini-suv.

Just got (well this morning I am) an end-of-line MY01 CRV. The dealer had a new shape CRV in when I went to check it over. Side by side there's little visible difference in size. The front looks more "modern" with the new Honda genetic treatment, but the back looks just plain ugly.

I'm sure that under the skin it's a better car. Personally, I'll wait for the first face lift and the novelty to wear off. UK dealers are predicting short supply for the first 18 months (as they would) and there are no discounts available at the moment.
