Default the new diet coke commercial: WTF?

ok, i've seen my share of commercials growing up, but this has to be one of those rare commercials where you say to yourself: WTF?

the commercial starts with a semi-attractive woman with a man's voice in the background. you see her in some nice lingerie...

"when we first got married, she would wear sexy underwear. you know, like those in the commericals?"

and then she started getting more "homely"...

"but over time, she started to wear cotton underwears..."

and then, you see the dude doing some laundry...

"there's just something reassuring about a worn cotton underwear with little flowers on them."

and it's a DIET COKE COMMERCIAL!

When I first saw that, I also thought WTF? I don't think I'll ever understand that one, not to mention how it's pertinent to Diet Coke!

It's all about marketing.

People are supposed to see that commericial and feel safety and comfort. This commercial is supposed to condition people to make them feel that same way when they see a diet coke. Which leads to people subliminally wanting to drink a diet coke, if not consciously.

Another thing, since more adult/older/mature people drink Diet Coke, the idea about the two couples growing more mature and settling down is supposed to target the older demographics.

Also the Coke wants people to see the Coke company as the company is represented in the commercials.

It's all about marketing my friend.

Is that possibly located on archive at adcritic.com or something? Since we outta States people are quite deprived of such commercials.

believe me, it's definitely not deprivation. We have far too many senseless commercials in the U.S. (probably everywhere)
