new iPod
Does anybody else have this yet? I got one last night when it was released. They are definately an improvement over the 2nd generation models. The 15GB & 30GB models come with the new dock (very convenient if you've ever used the older iPods).
In case anyone is wondering if they're really worth it, I would definately say so.

Hi,
I have an old one (1st generation), and just ordered a 20 meg one. What are the advantages, other than more space. I know the controls are slighthly different. I have a mac- I have some mp3s that I downloaded from a friends itunes, and of course they are on my ipod, but I don't know how to transfer them into my itunes...

Well guys, I've used it for a couple days now and I have to say it's so much sleeker than the MKII's (ok ok.. it's my silly way of saying 2nd generation).
Small and Sleek is Sexy
Despite what you may hear about other things, when it comes to electronics, small and sleek is better than large and massive. The newest iPod has a well-balanced feel; it's rounded corners together with it's seemingly 50/50 weight ratio makes you wonder how it hasn't already slipped out of your hands. The mirrored finish backing is every bit as amazing as the original iPod; the classic glow of the soft-white face in conjunction with the new design makes the iPod the center of attention just about anywhere. I haven't been able to find a free moment to enjoy my own iPod as so many people have asked me about it. Ladies cannot help but be intrigued by it's simple and sexy lines. I have received nothing but constant requests from ladies (even men
) for a date simply because of my iPod! (I'm kidding..... no I'm not.)
Better Control
Apple designed the iPod to respond to the sensation of touch. All the controls on the face are touch sensitive. The slightly brush of your finger will command the iPod to your every bidding. With the buttons relocated above the center dial, accidental volume changes and navigation blurps are no longer a problem. The illuminated control keys improve functionality of the iPod under low light conditions, and add to the overall "ooh/ahh" of the device.
Gripes
The only issue I have with the new iPod is the same problem with the old iPods. The hard drive can often slow down the operation of menu commands; this leads the user to believe that the touch button may not have detected their input causing them to press the butotn again. When the hard drive finishes it's resource draining operation, the button calls are received and the iPod responds.
In general, I am thoroughly pleased with the level of quality of this MP3 player. Considering the fact that it has a 15GB hard drive in the palm of my hand that isn't so much as bothered by bouncing around in my back pocket as briskly walk to work or class is simply amazing. It's definately a great choice if your pocketbook allows it.
