Default new method of deer hunting?

Man Kills Deer with Pocket Knife

.c The Associated Press

HERRIN, Ill. (AP) - A man out for a walk in the woods killed a deer with a pocket knife after the animal charged him.

Paul Cheatham, 61, said he grabbed the six-point, 130-pound buck by the horns when it attacked. He then held it with one hand, opened a pocketknife with his mouth and jabbed the deer in the rib cage.

``I knew if I let him go, he would kill me,'' Cheatham said. ``I hung on and got my legs around his neck. We wrestled around quite a while.''

Cheatham suffered bruises over much of his body.

I was at work the other day and I saw my uncle hunting a snake with a bulldozer. There was a huge black snake around where he was working, so he started stalking it with his bulldozer, and then he smashed it with the front loader thing. A little overkill if you ask me.

I had an ex-marine Phys Ed teacher who bow hunted. He shot a buck with his last arrow, and only wounded the animal. He then stalked the bleeding buck Rambo style, jumped on it, and slashed it's throat with a big ass survival knife.

I thought that was pretty hard core ...

i think that's the best way to kill an animal if you're hunting. hand to antler combat really puts hair on your chest.

I think if you hunt, you should be required to do it that way. At least the deer is on roughly-equal footing if you are armed with only a knife.

yeah i agree. its like my feelings about whaling. certain groups of people justify it with things like "our tribe has always hunted whales"... fine, get your ass in a tule boat and hunt one with a wooden and stone spear then. explosive launched harpoons on steel cable hardly counts as "hunting".
