Not everyone has sun and warmth all year round. That could have been taken in late winter/early spring when the snow has just left but the grass is still dead and brown. Ours is like that at the moment.

Wow. You need to leave Southern California sometime and experience winter anywhere up north. Grass doesn't stay green all year where it gets cold. It goes dormant and turns brown like that for the winter.
