New player on the field...Subaru??
What am I, on everyones ignore list
Check my previous post for a link Sharp Chuter. From my link:
As part of this unique partnership, owners of the high-performance 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX models will receive a complimentary membership to the SCCA, the leading sanctioning body for professional and amateur road racing, rally and autocross events in the United States. The partnership also designates Subaru as an "Official Supporter of the SCCA."

The Subarus are fairly common over this side of the pond and are more appropriately compared to the likes of a Mitsubishi Evo VI (I see they're nearly up to VII) in that they're created to make them eligible for world rallying - hence the 4 wheel drive. The hottest models (the latest is the P1 in England) are pretty hot and I'm afraid to say would toast our beloved S2000s, as would the Mitsubishi (0-60 in 4.7 secs, 60-0 in a little more).
But they look so damn ugly
with wings sprouting all over the place (but then some s2 owners seem to prefer that too) and ultimately what's the point of the comparison? There's always someone out there faster - surely we haven't got an inferiority complex?
You want a roadster? Don't buy a Subaru

Point being..... completely different class of automobile.
Yeah, WRX is a different class. It is far, far more tuneable than the S2000, and can be made to be very fast, handle extremely well and be a ton of fun to drive. Needs work off the showroom floor, but with a turbo upgrade, a TECII and some exhaust work, you will have a mid 12 second car in the 1/4 and one that can do 0-60 in low 4 second range (has already been done with the above mods).
In other words, the stock WRX is a monster waiting to be unleashed.

The WRX is the best bang for buck performance rocket bar none in Australia. I dare say you could probably buy a quicker and cheaper straight line car in North America (pony car) but nothing that would stay with the Rex (as we call them locally) through the twisties as well as the straights.
Try breathing on it and you have such a formidable weapon it ain't funny.
Word is ... This is the next road-killer on the block, ooh ... I can't wait to get my hands on a test drive. Looks like a good buy to me as well.

Or, I can settle for an STi Version 6 Type RA Coupe as well. Just as formidable in its class.
