but i gotta get me a $6 burger.
Finally something we get cheaper than the yanks. A "Value Meal" here is $AUD5-6 (about $USD3).
And I'm not sure about the quality in the US, but the meat used in McD here is amazing export quality beef. Better than we can buy at the butchers.
How they get it to resemble pressed cardboard though is beyond me.
McD's here have a new marketing program. It's an ever changing menu that is here to stay (

).
So at the moment we have McSalads and these awesome Honey Mustard Chicken Burgers. And yes, it's a chicken breast, not one of those reconstituted chicken giblet lumps.
As for those chicken McNuggets and other reconstitued chicken things: I've seen how they are made. After they cut and rip all the useful flesh off the chicken carcase the leftover torso is forced into a cylinder under pressure. The cylinder has a fine grate at one end, and anything that makes it out is the basic ingredient. But it's grey, so they oxygen bleach it first.
Mmmm, anyone for Chicken McNuggets?

You're probably wondering how I know this.
My uncle once worked for FJ Walkers. They have contracts for much of the wholesale ingredients to McDonalds Australia. We would get the beef before McD could get their hands on it and it is incredible. Melts in the mouth.
As for the chicken info. I once did some consultancy for Chickadee Chickens in Lisarow. They are a big chicken products wholesaler. The factory was amazing. Don't go there on a full stomach.
