Default Nintendo Wii?

with all the hype surrounding the PS3 and the availability of the Wii, do you think it is worth it to buy a few Wii's possibly in hopes that they will run out by christmas. i mean whats the worst that can happen, they are in stock and you can return it for at least your money back. just say you bought it as a present and the recipient got one from another family member. is it worth the gamble?

you may not get the return of the ps3, but if supply runs out in 1 month you can still see some profits.

It's highly unlikely that they will run out. There will be more Wii's available on the US launch than the PS3's US AND Japan launch combined. And supposedly the second shipment (before christmas) will be larger than the launch shipment.

You probably won't be able to get one on launch day unless you preordered or wait out a couple of hours before.

http://wiinis.com/targetwii.htm <-Here is the availability for Target alone. But then you also have to remember that there's also EB/Gamestop, Circuit City, Best Buy, Toys R Us etc...

Yesterday I waited in a small line at Toys R Us. They had another Wii pre-order Sunday, after sorting out their inventory I guess. My local store had 14 more to pre-order. I dunno about the e-bay value. I needed one-for-sure to give my stepson for Xmas but I'm not thinking there will be a shortage at the end of the year.

My stepson already has his pre-ordered PS3 out on e-bay racking up serious bids and he's planning to stand in line on opening day somewhere to try for another. So PS3's are a money-maker but I wouldn't bet on Wii's. But if you get it with a clear return policy then it can't hurt. We made over $1K in XBox 360 profits last year.

I'm sure you shared the 1099 for those proceeds with the IRS?

You might make a profit if there are people like Cartman out there. He had so much trouble waiting for the Wii's release, he froze himself and asked his friend Butters to thaw him out when the time came.

with 2-4 million units expected to ship this year, I highly doubt there will be a drought.
