for your patience and staying calm.

i think most people without self-control would open the door and start to floss the gun. Then again if he hit you with the bat and you fired at him, you never know what would have happened next. His friends could have ran out the car (both armed).
& also you won't really have to worry about them coming back as much as if you were to have fired or even flossed your gun.

again,
for self-control.

i wanna see vid

It’s probably best that you didn’t go meet him. Good chance that he had some crack ass plan to jack your rims and you. Him, his buddies and a bat in some random place, sounds shady to me… When that didn’t work out he decided to go for broke and drive to your home. Funny how he didn’t have enough gas to drive to your place to buy your wheels but he had enough gas go all gang style.

Good show of restraint not opening the door and shooting him (the obvious outcome). It sounds like you didn’t flash the gun either, also a good show of restraint. I believe you should never show your gun until it’s too late, for the other guy that is. Otherwise the little crack head might come back with his own gun.

Sounds like you got it all under control but be careful out there.

With the type of Hulk anger I get out of no where I would have showed the gun and made him get on his belly until the police came.

Not to add to your worries but you really need to be careful the next few months with them having your address. He won't soon forget it and can possibly come by for some late night vandalism or worse a drive by..

I never let people know where I live. Im 25 and have a house of my own. Nice area but you never know who will come back later. I also have a Glock 9mm I keep close for that, just in case. Its always best to have a little back up. Glad to hear it all went ok for ya.
That was the OPs mistake. I would NEVER let some internet randy know where I live. Hopefully he doesnt get out soon, remember where you live, and carry on the conversation. Hopefully you dont get home one day and your house is broken into and all your shit is gone....

When buying or selling on CL, never meet at your house or theirs. Always meet at a "very" public place and let family and friends know where you will be just in case. Heard several stories on the news where people get robbed at gunpoint or worse even in public places. Glad things worked out for the best.

Even though mistake #1 was letting him know where you live, I will say that I would have handled it the way you did. Shooting someone is last resort in my opinion.

However, if I ever had to, I for sure wouldn't kneecap someone. The last thing you need is to have to protect your family then get sued by a criminal cause he can't ever really walk again. If it comes to that I'll keep dropping rounds until I'm tapped out.

Just my 2 cents though.

I would get motion-activated floodlights and video cameras mounted outside the house.

And a restraining order. Maybe make a deal with the kids that if they apologize, you'll drop the charges? That way they won't be raging for revenge and you can sleep better at night?

I've sold several things on CL and always let them come to my house.
