Default North Face MET5 heated jacket

it's supposed to be powered by LiIon batteries .. sound like a sweetass jacket, does it really work as advertised??

btw, store called bobwards.com is selling the MET5 vest version for 279.99.. much cheaper than the $600 jacket.. hmmmmm ... hehe

you probably catch on fire!!!

seriously this much heat is not good for your skin in the winter. I mean I have heard about heated cars seats, but a heated jacket? Sounds like a gimmick to me!

Yeah, its a bit of a gimic. I can think of a few select times when it MIGHT be worth it. Might. Otherwise, stick to a standard layering system.

Granted, I guess I should ask what exactly you want it for?

I've been a pretty serious climber/backcountry person for ~15 years. This is not a product I'd personally be interested in.

Unless you climbing everest dont waste your money. Get a Helly Hansen and be done with it.

I can't belive TNF would sell this. Well, anything for a buck. For one thing, WTF good is a VEST if it's really cold. If you're doing anything REALLY hardcore, you'll regret carrying the weight of batteries. Total

TNF sold out to Vanity Fair a few years back. They've been on a downhill slide since then. Basically, they've become a style brand rather than a function brand. Probably why you see tons of college kids and rappers in TNF stuff.

If you want real gear, there are other brands doing it way better out there.
