It's times like this I agree with you americans and the right to bare arms. What's the world coming to when you can't even go on drive with putting your life in danger. As my Father would say "There was a time when the only thing you had to worry about was your own stupidity"

Every 'burb should have a friendly neighbourhood 'Star Chamber'. I can't find any human kindness in me for the perpetrators of such acts. If that makes me less human then so be it.

Ehh, did you actually read the thread? At the risk of entering into "Right to arm bears" debate again I'd say that the most dangerous thing about the incident was that the perps had access to guns. And I really can't see how the NSX driver having a gun as well could make the incident any more positive. Perhaps you're suggesting that if a couple of passers by had guns they could've shot the perps for car jacking and the NSX owner for reckless driving.

I'm aware of all the arguments: In Canada and Australia the perps would still have guns blah blah.

I'm just suggesting that this incident is one which doesn't support freer gun laws and possibly even supports tighter gun control.

Flame on guys!

I suggest that they let some of those 1 million pot smokers out of prison and make longer term arrangements for real criminals. Skim off the sludge and discard.

I'm sory guys but I'm a firm believer in "where there is smoke there is fire". The author of the thread makes the assumption that the guys in the truck who did the shooting were complete strangers to the owner of the NSX. It is a proven fact that the majority of victims know their attackers. How do we know, for example, that the NSX owner had not tried to rip off the other guys in a drug deal and they were now getting their own back on him.

I think that very few carjackings (or any other crime) are a case of an innocent victim being in the wrong place at the right time. There is far too much negative information out there that encourages us to believe the world is a dangerous place with someone waiting around the corner just to get us - the innocent victim. The reality is that in 90+% of cases the people who are 'got' are those who knew there was a reason why the 'getter' would 'get' them.

I like the new thing they have in South Africa. It sprays pepper spray or mustard spray at the drivers face. You just gotta have the remote on you. Just dont hit the button by accident!

That is aside from the flames that shoot out the side!

Right to bear arms question, here!!!

This attemtpted carjacking happened in Texas.

When I was in Dallas for business, the client's building I had been working at had a rule about not bringing any firearms into the building printed in concrete on the side of the building!!!! I thought it was a joke and asked a co-worker from Dallas about it.

He told me that many buildings have explicitly written out that rule, because in Texas, people can carry guns if they are not concealed.

On my way back to the hotel that evening, I noticed all the cars and pickups with gunracks!!!!

Is this true. . .?

The only people in Texas allowed to carry firearms (concealed or otherwise) are law officers or a person who is a non-felon who has taken a muti-hour course from a sanctioned instructor and has been issued a photo I.D. (like a license). I still don't think this allows one to carry a weapon openly; it must be concealed and there are posted places where this is not allowed, such as bars, schools or churches. This really isn't the wild west. For more info, go to: http://www.vpc.org/press/9909tex.htm

Hey Aus,

Believe me, your point is well taken. Things are a little different where we live then in some places in the states. I'm not gonna debate the issue. For the most part I'm am a very peacefull person. I don't beileve in guns and am scared to think so many people have access to them. You are absolutly right in saying that if the NSX guy had a gun it wouldn't have helped the situation. I'm sure it would have made things worse. I guess after I read the story I was a little pissed off and thought to my self, If I had a gun I would shoot all these POS and rid the world. But its not my job nor my place.
I just think that a little equalizer isn't a bad thing.
Don't take my post too seriously, Living in a suburb of Toronto Canada, I am lucky to be sheltered from most of this. And that's just fine by me
