Thumbs up NYFA

I have always had a passion to become a movie director, and screenplay writer.

(I have aspirations to write my own movies and direct them)

I have been looking into this more and more lately, and have found that NYFA ( http://www.nyfa.com/ ) may be a good option for me.

The only problem I have is, it's ridiculously expensive, and and I am only obtaining info based on their catalog (not all that good of a source since it's a little bias)

What I would like to know is, Does anyone know someone that has attended this school? How did it work for them?

It look's real interesting, and I can honestly say that since I was a wee little lad... this is what I wanted to do. Still till this day, I get excited about the idea

My goal is to attend the night time production/ screenplay writers courses. A total of 2 years. The school is pretty damn expensive though..... Id be paying for quite some time after I graduate.. So I would like some incite.

Thank you!

when I wanted to become a screenwriter/director a few years ago, I decided going to film school was only worth it for the connections.

if you really want to make your own movie, and not deal with someone messing with your artistic vision (I understand how that can be frustrating), I suggest doing what Kevin Smith, Richard Linklater, and Robert Rodriguez did: go out there and make your movie.

if you need a budget, your dreams are too high. less is more, and a good story can make up for other things.

just make sure you know some good actors, and good luck juggling everyone's schedules.

On serious note: You only live once, if its worth it to you go for it.

As for the reputation of this School I can only judge it by the actors that appear as special speakers. Also they seem to be growing which indicates that to me that they are successful.

GL hopefully someone knows someone who knows someone that's a cousin of someone who attended this school.

Good luck. That is a tough life, even if you are really good it's not who you are, it's who you know. Is Drewchie still around s2ki? Look him up. He's a great screenplay writer. There's a 100% chance you've watched something he wrote.
