much like whale sharks, completely harmless.

Went on a whale shark excursion last year and it was pretty cool. Never seen a basking shark, but you get up close and they are big animals. The one in this pic had a tail fin that was taller than an average human. I almost got whacked with it. They lazily swim and let you swim along with them, but if you annoy them they leave you very quickly. Perspectve is a little goofy, this one was about 25 feet. Kind of upset with myself for going though, it was just a circus of fat tourists buggin the S**t out of some fish just trying to eat.
