Default Online Stock Trades

Ameritrade, Scottrade, Etrade, etc...

im would like to start a small account (~$5k) to invest online in the stock market. i will only be placing limit orders. i've tried to do some research online with all the major companies, but have not come to any conclusive decisions.

i was hoping some of the s2ki'ers would have some form of experience with one, or all of the web trading companies, and would very much like feedback.

thanks for your time!

mike

Scottrade. No minimum amount of trades per year for the same cost at $7.00/trade.

i heave heard scottrade has poor service, as in if you want to pull out your money, you will have to fight for it. thoughts?

don't know.

I used Etrade (still do, but not right now technically) opening and funding an account is easy. All of my trades executed very fast, either instantly or by the time I pressed the first REFRESH.

Pulling money out could not have been easier, but it took 2 days for the money to go into my regular bank, but this was no fault of etrade, just bank regulations and large deposits.

etrade isn't the cheapest, but if you trade frequentyl it is like 6-7 bucks if I remember right.

I use Options Xpress, they have great service, and a lot of information available. IMO for small brokerage acccounts they are great.

I've used Scottrade for the last 3 years or so, and I like them a lot. Haven't taken any money out, so I can't speak to that point.

My tax guy really likes TDWaterhouse.
