Default Online stores

I was thinking of doing Christmas shopping online this year. Ive heard of a lot of scams happening through online stores so just wanted to ask you guys how to tell if your safe giving your credit card numbers to certain websites.
Is there maybe a specific website where all the "scammer stores" are listed or something/

i always use my credit card. never had any problems. as long as the site doesn't look totally shady, or if it wasn't put it up in the last few days, i'd say you're okay. make sure there's that little padlock icon when you're checking out...that means the site is secure. how secure? not sure...but hopefully secure enough.

http://www.resellerratings.com/

I've bought a ton of chit online, and from some very shady looking companies with horrible websites.. but I've never ever had a problem.

stick to BIG name websites. e.g. Amazon pretty much has you covered.

i work at buy.com and we sell over $500,000,000 of stuff each year. we're trustworthy. buy from a big-name retailer and you should be fine. And buy with your credit card. if anything happens, your credit card company will take care of everything.

with the above. The big stores like Amazon or BUY are like any majore retailer. The smaller ones use reseller ratings.com

check to see if your credit card offers temporary numbers like citibank so you don't have to give out your real credit card number.
