so i guess nobody has real hands on experience with this laptop?
earlier emachines were POS - but i've been hearing better things about them lately, that's why i'm even considering now.

Do you need it to have a battery? I found that with my previous laptop it was plugged in 100% of the time anyway.
So what I did was go with an ECS Desknote. What it is, is a laptop that uses desktop ram, and desktop processor. Which makes it crazy cheap (and easily upgradable). Not to mention you don't have the internal battery.
Mine is a P4 2.4 Ghz (I didn't go with the Athlon because it runs much warmer, even tho I like Athlons better), 512 MB DDR RAM, 40 GB HD, CD-RW/DVD Combo, Almost every port imaginable (4 usb 2.0 for example), 15 inch LCD, 64MB DDR Video Card.
Back in March I paid $999 US for it. I'm thinking its probably a bit cheaper now.
