Default Palm Treo 700 Question

So which is the better OS to go with. The provider would be Verizon. My choices are the 700w (windows mobile os) or the 700p (palm os). Any comments welcome. I'd like to hear your experiences with this phone. Thanks.

I love the PalmOS myself. I'm a Treo650 user.

I've always felt the 700 was a downgrade as the screen is only 240*240 instead of 320*320. It's also the same OS, with a slightly faster CPU (doesn't matter) and more memory.

I do think the Windows mobile is fuller featured out of the box, but I think of the PalmOS as more stable. I don't think you'll go wrong either way.

you can download alot of stuff for windows but some of the pda cell phones are disabled and will not run everything you throw at it. where microsoft has made progress improving the stability it is goony and you will have to tolerate it.

I have been on mine for a month, extremely happy with it.

The 320x320 vs 240x240 is really noticeable?

I would say so, yes. It's about half the number of pixels. The text, video, and pics won't look as good as they do on the 650.

I don't know what most PocketPC phones run, but I think it is less than 240*240.

Thanks for everyone's advice. I'll have to go check out the 650 at the store.

both are fine. I probably would have traded up to the 700p if it weren't for the screen.

bear in mind that the 650 and 700p really differ in the cpu speed and memory while the 650 kept the good screen. I put a lot of crap on my 650 and memory has not been a problem. Palm apps are very very small. I use an SD card to store media, so an extra 1GB is dirt cheap.

I have no idea why palm went with the lower resolution. My guess is that it may have to do with Windows Mobile support. Of course the 700p is PalmOS but the phones are probably very similar hardware-wise.

you'll also save a few hundred bucks on the 650, too.
