worthless certs!
Certs help a lot when looking for a job. On job sites like dice.com, most companies run searches for CCNA/CCNP/CCIE. While a cert might not tell the complete story of the applicant, it will certainly help in getting that interview. In the near future, I will complete my Masters in Computer Engineering & get the CCIE. I don't really look at it as jumping through corporate hoops. I find the Cisco/digital logic/networking topics very interesting & I would read/practice/learn even if my company wasn't look for certs. I feel very fortunate to work in a field that I truly love.

I hope your mastery of networking is better than your mastery of the english language.

All in all, exp. is king. But when looking for a job now-a-days employeers weed out countless resume's based upon certs.

Certs can open doors when you don't have the loads of experience. Congratulations on passing it and good luck with the next one's.
