If its so hot that you need to leave your windows open, rain isn't likely to be on your list of worries. Its 46 degrees C here nowadays, and i leave the windows open a wee bit for the heat in the cabin. Rain is defnitely not something im thinking of except that im dying for the weather to be different rainwater>sweat

if you're talking top down A/C vs top down no A/C, then yeah, running the A/C takes more energy.

however i don't think that was the point AZDavid was making.

with the top up, driving with the windows down increases drag and effectively erases any benefits of not running the A/C.

People usually only do that when it's hot as hell out, and it doesn't rain when it's hot as hell out.
