Are you one of those guys who teased him in high school and now want to be his friend? That's what some of his former high school guys are doing. Besides, he's not that ugly, not that it's of any importance.

Gold medals are chump change. The money is in endorsements/commercials.

As great as he is, I think he's a little overrated based on the number of gold medals. Think of it this way, many athletes in other sports only get to compete once or twice for medals, while Phelps gets to compete many times in swimming. It's not fair to call him the best athlete based on just the number of gold medals. Many other great athletes only get 1 or 2 chances in the whole competition to earn medals. Think about it!

For example: in swimming, there are different styles and distances to compete in, but in (let's just say) tennis, how many styles can one player win in?

I heard that he's becoming an entrepreneur. He's in negotiations to purchase the place where he and several other Gold Medal swimmers trained, the North Baltimore Aquatic Club, along with an ice rink and the property surrounding that to create an Olympic training center.
