It's not the same thing because:

A "nice" car sitting at the back of a parking lot isn't hurting anyone.

Whereas people who wander the streets and sidewalks and aisles of supermarkets jabbering into cell phones about nothing important annoy everyone around them. They bump into strangers because they're distracted, and they pace back and forth, getting in the way of other people. Also cell phones ringing in movie theaters anger me intensely, and don't get me started on using a cell while driving. You know how wrong that is.

Face it: Cell phones are the devil.

It's still basically the same thing. Someone else is doing something in public that, while perfectly legal, is something that you and I don't like, so they need to be punished by having their personal property harmed or destroyed simply because you and I don't like it.

Consider this: in pretty much all of the cases you listed, it's not the cell phone, but the person that is the problem. A cell phone ringing in the middle of a movie is just as rude as that guy sitting next to you who can't stop talking to his girl during the movie.

Here's my point: There are morons everywhere. Take away their cell phones and they are still morons.

I agree with Cbeyond though, you can't compare this with keying a car or something like that.......

It is arrogance and a lack of respect and/or thought for others that makes people on cell phones annoy others. Very different to the jealousy that is usually the driving force behind people keying cars!

I do agree though that if you take the cell phone away they are still morons!!

I can't view them for some reason. I got the quicktime, but it still won't play.

Take the case of the guy leaning into his BMW. He wasn't even using the phone in public, but he was involved with a BMW and a cell phone, so he must have done something wrong?
Excellent point! The vidoes came across as random attacks to me as well, which is why they didn't seem that funny to me.

I must have no sense of humor tokyo_james. Looks like assault to me. If that would have happened to me we'd have two more broken phones... the two clowns in those costumes.

I think the randomness is what helps make it funny.
