Looking at your EXIF info, it looks like you had the shutter speed set to 4 seconds. Did you just hit the shutter and hoped lightning would strike within that 4 seconds or try to hit the shutter when you saw the lightning (must have had excellent reflex if that's the case).
Also, is there a reason you didn't use a higher ISO value?

Wow...I wasn't aware you could see all that.
I took the pic by hitting the shutter and hoping for a bolt within the four seconds. That's why it took so many tries. I can't tell you how many times I would click, and then the shutter would close 4 seconds later, and then a bolt of lightning would strike. It was SO frustrating!! But I wasn't going to give up until I got one.
As for the ISO, I turned it down because if I didn't, it would overexpose and look like daylight. 4-8 seconds with a low ISO gave me the best results.
