Sorry but i dont likey. It just doesnt fit. Like posted earlier, its gonna be tough getting a professional job with that tattoo. IMHO tattoos are cool but only in moderation, ie, smaller than 2inx 2in on girls ... and 4inx4in for guys. (unless your 50 cent then you can have your whole back covered (btw i think his tattoo is  )) Oh another thing if I was to get a tattoo i would get it somewhere less obvious than my forearm. Maybe on the upperarm or something. But hey if he likes it props to him.

"He looks at tats the same way I do, they are the story of your life. He won't regret it when he's 40, he will look at it and say, "hey I remember when I got this and etc...." I didn't ask you to like it, everyone is entitled to an opinion, but don't say you know how he will feel in 20 years because you don't know him. Not trying to start an argument just had to say something because I think you are wrong."

OK I don't know what he will say in 20 years, or how he will feel, but you don't either. People change, and as you grow older, there are things you wish you had done differently. Usually, those are memories, but in your friend's case, it's right there on his arm. He can't change it, or undo it, (without a lot of pain and money anyway) and likely as not, he will wish he could undo it, or change it. I can't see how flames on his arm will represent the story of his life. Maybe how he felt when he had it done, but his life? No way. Of course I don't know your friend. Maybe his life to date can be summed up by a picture of a flame.

Personally, it doesn't do anything for me. It seems like your friend is on the heavy side from the picture. (correct me if I am wrong) His wrists are large without muscle definition. What will happen when his size changes. I say that cause about 5-6 years ago, I wanted a tattoo. Well I weighed about 60lbs less then than I do now, so my tattoo would look stupid all distorted.

I am also a professional and could NEVER get away with a tattoo like that. Crap, I take shit for just having a goatee.

Ultimately, he has to live with this decision and if he likes it, good for him. That is all that matters. However, personally, I don't like it.

I LOVE how people that "don't get it" love to chime in and tell everyone that he will regret the tattoo on his 40th b-day. Everyone that has ever had a negative comment about my tattoos has used that same "magic number."

It's like I am going to wake up on my 40th birtday to the sun gently falling across my bed as the wind gently blows the curtains open bringing in the sweet smell of spring and I am going to roll over and say:

\"Holy f'cking sh!t where did THAT come from!?\"

By the time I am 40 I will have had my tattoos longer than not. I can't remember what it looks like without them.

^ Yeah, I barely even notice mine anymore. People come up to me and say "oh, what does that mean?" I have to think for a second what the hell they're talking about.

^ Ditto...

I'm certainly open to the possibility that I will eventually regret my tattoos. I don't know what will happen or how I'll feel in the future, and there may come a day where I wonder why the hell I ever got them. But I've only got one life to live, and who knows for how long, so I'm not going to refrain from doing something for fear of future regrets. That's a chance I'll take. With any decision, there is always the possibility of regret.

Well I just picked 40. Could have said 30, 50 or maybe never. All depends on the person and each of us are different. I still think that something that big (and ugly IMHO) should go where you can show it off when you want, or cover it up easily, and a forearm aint the place.
I do "get it", Rue, I just don't like it and it isn't for me. This all started with asking how everybody liked his friend's tat, so he asked for opinions. I just gave him mine.

I've come to the conclusion that I LOVE my tattoos, but I do know that one day when I'm a lot older I'm gonna say, "God, couldn't I have gotten those some place where no one could see them." Right now though I love them and I don't regret getting them...they mean something to me!!

Anyway, that's my 2 cents.
