Pimp my ride - Indian style
Sure, there are many meanings for one word, but let's be real, slapping "scion" on the side of a non-Toyota is about as silly as slapping "turbo" on a non-turbo car for all logical purposes.
Scion may refer to:
In kinship, a descendant (of a notable family), a son or daughter
In grafting, a detached shoot or twig containing buds from a woody plant which is grafted onto the stock
Scion (automobile), a brand of vehicles produced by Toyota Motor Corporation in the US and Canada
Scion Audio/Visual, an in-house record label of the Scion automobile marque produced by Toyota Motor Corporation for the North American market
Atlantean Scion, a fictional device of untold power in the video games Tomb Raider and Tomb Raider: Anniversary
Scion (comics), a comic book published 2000-2004 by CrossGen Comics
Scion (role-playing game), a role-playing game released by White Wolf, Inc
An alien race in the video game Battlezone 2

While I'm sure the worlds smallest minds, operating only in the smallest boxes truly appreciate your vigorous backup, put it into context and you see how silly that comment is. Not to mention the part where Scion is a North American company, who just semi-recently started opening up Canadian dealerships. Wild thought, but I'm pretty sure Scion's (as in, the car) are few and far between in Bombay and New Dehli. And you're right we are on a car website, one who's recent users baffle me with a lack of knowledge. Why I would ever expect them to think outside the box of the automobile world; or simply put things into perspective is a great question. Clearly, I ask too much of people.
In terms of total population, in a world approaching 7 billion, the top three countries by population are China (1.3 billion), India (1.2 billion) and USA (about 310 million). Thus, the USA is by far the most populous English-speaking country and accounts for almost 70% of native English speakers. India represents the third largest group of English speakers after the USA and UK, even though only 4-5% of its population speaks English (4% of over 1.2 billion is still almost 50 million). However, by some counts as many as 23% of Indians speak English, which would put it firmly in second place, well above Britain but not the USA.
Fixed.

It's a REALLY old word and lineage is a huge thing in Indian culture...
