Ping G5?
I was recently set on getting a new set of Ping G2 irons. I loved everything about them after demoing these clubs. They feel so much more solid and powerful compared to my old clubs and I am easily getting +1 club better in terms of distance (YMMV). It's to the point where I don't even want to play Golf again until I replace my old clubs with a new set of Pings!
But I have recently read that the new Ping G5s will be out soon. I was just wondering if anyone had any info on these? Of course the marketing states better, more forgiving, blah blah blah, but has anyone hit them yet? Or is there a review up yet?
I am also considering buying a left over set of G2s when these come out next month, as I might be able to get a good deal on a set.

I started out playing with pings, ISIs, eye2s, etc....
The older irons are great, the newer ones aren't all that.
If you have your mind set on G2s, just wait and get them cheaper.
What do you normally shoot?

I was looking for a higher end set of clubs as well. I tried the Tommy Armour forged clubs and really liked them. I went with 845 CMs - basically, 3-6 are cavity back (for more distance and better contact) and 7-P are muscleback blades for better control and feel. I chose stiff flex shafts and no offset. The clubs are well balanced, fairly easy to control, and definitely hit the ball further. I'm easing back on my power (to get used to them) and am still outhitting my old clubs. Essentially, the higher clubs give me my distance and my lower clubs force me to hit more cleanly.
I paid $210 (after shipping discount) shipped to my door for the irons off of Ebay. Retail is roughly $500-$700, depending on where you shop. I'd highly recommend them. You can't even buy fully forged clubs for under $400 most places unless they're ancient (ie, used or a few years old)....

If your that high of a handicap player one thing you may want to consider is buying a 6-pwedge set, and going 3-5 Hybred clubes. A lot of high h-cap players have a difficult time hitting there long irons and this may help you. Another good investment would be a resonably highend 56, 60 degree wedge(s) If you go to a used golf club store you both can be had for well under 80.00 bucks. I sugest Clevland, or titleist....in my opinion you can save a ton of shots with good wedge play witch is essential for somone who shoots in the 90's(misses lots of greens)
Good luck,

the only problem with goin 5-3 iron in hybrid clubs is that ping doesnt make hybrids in the G2's. They make the G2 high launch irons in the g2's which the 5-3 irons have a much larger sole and place the center of gravity lower on the clubface. now if u wait for the G5's then you can have the option of full hybrid clubs. i havent seen what ping is planning on doing wiht these hybrids yet so i couldnt tell ya if this would be the way to go or not. Im still waiten for the ping rep to bring the new demos of the g5 line so we can try it out.
