Plane on conveyer: Will it ever take off?
A plane is standing on runway that can move (some sort of band conveyer). The plane moves in one direction, while the conveyer moves in the opposite direction. This conveyer has a control system that tracks the plane speed and tunes the speed of the conveyer to be exactly the same (but in opposite direction).
The question is:
Will the plane take off or not?

I seen it on OT.com (dont ask). And no it wont take off. The plane is moving relative to the conveyor but not its atmosphere and hence there wont be a change in pressure which is required to take off.

That "riddle" was retarded. If anyone thought about it for more than 9 seconds, call your mom and yell at her for not having aborted you long ago.

Actually, yes it will. The trick is that the plane's engines are not pushing against the ground, as a car would. The force comes from the air, so the plane moves forward as usual...the presence of the moving ground plane is completely irrelevant. Well, okay, the plane's wheels will spin twice as fast as usual, but that's all. Plane takes off.
