Default Plasma TV's

Anyone have a plasma tv? If so, what brand and for how long? Just had a salesman tell me that the Philips brand only lasted three years due to pixel burn-out. Of course, he was selling RCA

OOOOOOOOOOH! I'd sell my first born for one of those. But then again, he's only worth a 13" with tubes.

I don't have one, but I see them every year when I go to NAB in Las Vegas. I think Sony had one that was pretty good. Seems like a lot of exhibitors were using them.

I have a Fujitsu

You realise it is a only a screen? It needs the VCR to access the television.

Bernie,

Which Fujitsu do you own and how for how long? Have you had any problems? Audio/Video Interiors has ranked them pretty high. And no, I didn't realize you needed more than the monitor itself. The RCA I looked at had all kinds of inputs/outputs but I had mainly been questioning the HDTV ready vs HDTV. This one required a receiver to get the HDTv signal.

I saw a nice looking Marantz. I think it retailed for roughly 20k. Someone told me there are some really big plasma monitors coming out now, too. 40 to 60+ inches?

They're starting to come down. The RCA was a 42" retailing for $7999.00. Still a nice chunk of change but hopefully the downward pricing will continue. This was a HDTV-ready as opposed to HDTV which is much higher. They are so nice looking and I'd love to have one.

As far as I know, there are only 2 companies making Plasma screens and everyone else is simply putting there name on it and changing some of the electronics driving it. If i remember correctly the two companies are Fujitsu and Pioneer.

yeah that is down 50% from the time i saw it, of course london is more expensive to live in though so even though 11,000 lb is smilar to $16.5K its not really 50%
