This isn't a criminal case. It is an act of war. We don't give each enemy soldier a trial before shooting at him on the battlefield.

 

Actually, I think our laws need to change. This, wasn't (technically) I think, an act of war. It was murder.

I'm sure though, that congress and the president could change our law by COB tomorrow in order to allow the killing of terrorists by our armed forces.

 

Why wasn't it an act of war? It didn't have to be committed by a government (war was declared against the Barbary pirates, which was little more than 19th C. terrorist group) to be an act of war.

They were attempting to alter U.S. government policies using violence.
They attacked the U.S., both the people and the government.
Their rhetoric and hatred is directed at the country and government.

You may consider that these actions were acts of war, but that doesn't necessarily mean that a war has started. First off before anything we need to find out who is responsible. Then there government can declare war, or ours. the acts alone do not automatically infer war.
Stupid as it is, have you seen Southpark the movie? A war with Canada because of 2 swearing Canadians. Believe me I know your anger, but this is much bigger then anger.
