The Goat is one of my favorite cars...

I had friends in high school who had them and I would navigate during rallies and TSD's, etc. The GTO was a fantastic car. I admire the muscle of the late 60's and very early 70's a great deal. The GTO is chief among some of the coolest cars ever to grace the planet.

Funny you should ask, Modern Marvels on the History Channel tonight was all about American muscle cars. Brought back some great memories...!

Long live muscle and good old 'merican iron!

There's what looks like a 70 GTO conv. on a lot 20 miles from me. In fact it looks like a Judge ragtop. What are these things worth now?

I had an original '64 tri-power in the seventies. It was paid for, but with the tire, oil, gas, and insurance costs, I actually improved my cash flow when I traded on a new car. The GTO was fun but not at all refined.. my wife (ex) at the time would not drive it.

haha....Chris, that's funny. No, not at all refined, especially the earlier GTO's years like yours. But John Delorian says that the cars were designed to be an affordable, everyman's hot rod. That means it was pretty raw, but fast with crazy power. Moving towards the late 60's, the cars got a few more creature comforts, but not by any stretch were they luxurious. Fast and didn't handle well, nor did they brake very well...but lots of power.

I was at a car show recently where they a GTO only display...there was an example from every year that the GTO was produced, totally cool.

I have heard of mint GTO's in pristine shape going to as much as 60-100k actually. Very rare, but it happens!

Oh man, did I ever step in it.

This just proves that you s**** people are desperate and will go to any lengths to try and justify that heinous word. It's a doomed word and should be banned from use by any and all self-respecting S2000 owners...
