If she deserved that, than 90% of us here deserve it. It was a tragic accident, and hopefully a little eye opener to be careful.
Maybe you missed the "if".

Point was, she didn't deserve to die.

Do you deliberately drive 100mph on public roads in a reckless mannor?
i dont understand:
no on the dilerbrate
or
no on the 100mph
or
no on the public
or
no in the reckless

or all of the above: nononono?

so why are you posting on a s2k forum where the car does at least 140mph?

what does just driving 100 has to do w/ it? she was going 100 near a TOLL BOOTH and SWERVING.

shouldn't ppl be saying 'if you've ever driven 100 in places where you know there are slow/stopped cars and obstructions, wildily changing directions then you can't be critical of the girl'?

I'm all for ditching the holier than thou attitude(if there was any), but not being able to say she made a really bad call is bs. Hope this will sober up some ppl, though I doubt it. This was hardly pre-meditated and well thought out. She didn't get out of bed thinking she's gona crash her car and end up in little bloody pieces.

I signed up on this forum just to express my opinion. I was linked here by my local vw board....

Lets examine the FACTS: she was in excess of 100, or slowed to 100 -- approaching a toll booth on a road that has a 70MPH speed limit, but if like any other toll road, it slows to 45 regardless of "EZPASS" lane or not. She was double the speed limit, and i highly doubt that the Civic was going 70 at the time, seeing how close they were to the tolls (however I could be wrong, she could have slid more than three miles at those speeds).

The concept that a wheel may have blown could be valid. I see one rim, and two intact tires (one not attached to the cars) from the photos. however, is it just deserving if you're speeding 30+ on the 65/70MPH highway near your home and your tire blows causing you to crash? Well, you tell me. In this case, she may have or may not have stolen the car from her parents. Even if she did take it with their knowledge, did she check the tires? Should she have been obligated to? If you want to be totally anal, you'd say yes. If she took it in a fit of rage illegally, then it seems even more likely yes. If she took it and was merely going faster than she realized in a car her parents knew she had, realized she had to get to the EZPASS lane and was braking at the time she smacked the civic hoping and/or praying she wouldn't hit the civic ... then you'd more likely say that's really tagic, but she should have been watching her speed. Either way, she was inexperienced. We don't know, and may never know, the complete facts behind her state of mind before all of it went all over the road.

I feel for the parents. The last things they will remember, if the stories said here are true, is a petty arguement and now the loss of a life dream convertible and their (only?) daughter. That's tragic no matter what, and the parents will probably blame themselves for the rest of their lives to some degree and this WILL impact any sibblings lives forever. That's also very, very tragic. I know I'd buy all slow cars and check my kids mileage and be a militant father, because I couldn't go through that again. At the same time, I'd hopefully listen better and thus the militant attitude wouldn't be necessary... but I will not deny I'd still apply it to prove a point, to make an example, to make myself feel like I did everything I could.

I do think that the facts present make it sound as if she was making a lot of bad choices, but this might turn out to be a real sob story. I mean, what if she was gay and coming out ... and the parents flipped out for no reason? What if that is what prompted the rage, the stealing of the car, and now her loss of life? We simply don't know the facts.

I feel for her family, and i feel for her. However, it does seem as if she made some bad decisions, and if she had thought more rationally, she could have survived the accident (assuming the tire blew, if she had been braking before the honda was in sight, she probably would have walked away).

I've reposted this on my own local forum, to share my opinion there as well.

The only times I exceed 85 MPH on public roads these days is when I can see for miles in all directions (usually our high-desert regions) or on a drag strip. I'm scared of cops! Aside from the dragstrip I can count the number of times I exceeded 100 MPH in my C5 Z06 using two fingers. You know how serene and in-control that machine feels at 125.

Tire blow-out? Yeah, I happened to have had one of those during a high-speed run when I was much younger. Didn't wreck. What's your point? I don't have sympathy for stupidity, even if it is mine.

So she's not getting anything other than a Darwin award from me and that's final.

the links are definitely not what you expect when you click on them, however for some reason i would love to know how it all went down....did she hit the civic and then roll some and then hit the wall or did she hit the civic go airborne and into the wall. it's just how the car hit the building and how the dents on the door to the building and all look it just makes me wonder.

i guess i'm looking to far into this but either way.....
