After checking out bestbuy.com, I didn't realize how much these things stored on them. Holy hell.

Seems like there are tons of them, I wouldn't mind one with about 10gigs HD. Cost isn't really a big deal, but wouldn't mind something that's easy to use. I saw that they use USB, which is a major plus so I can transfer back and forth between it and my laptop.

I wont be using this that often, usually when I'm playing tournament chess (don't laugh), I like to listen to music while I play. Other times will be air travel, when now, it seems like CD players are pretty bulky and impractical.

Anyone have any suggestions? I'd prefer to stay away from the iPod because I hate Steve Jobs.

I have an Ipod, but if I didn't I would definitely check out the Dell Jukebox. It's getting good reviews and the price is reasonable.

Mp3 players are like any other stereo or video equipment. Make sure you take a look at and fiddle with the interface.

A 50 Terrabye mp3 player doesn't do you jack worth of good if all you have is a crappy interface.

I have the I-River 390T.

I use it for the gym and I think it works great. The only thing is the arm band that it comes with is not very good. They have have an optional sport arm band that I'm getting soon. Other than that the player is great. It has an awsome sound and navigation is ok . Only 200.00!

I went a 30 gig Ipod and never looked back. It is a little heavy and a lot expensive. I filled up 15 gigs very fast (high quality encodings, even with VBR). The ear buds it came with stink. Changed to Sony Fontopias and all is good again...

Whatever you get, make sure you have a fast connection to the PC (Firewire or USB2).
