dude you guys,
if you want scary come down to palos verdes at night. i currently live here and in long beach(dont ask why i dont know either) and my friends and i have always drove around here at night time looking for haunted houses and such. well heres a list of what we found.
at this one church off a small street theres a real? man dressed in all white with a white hood that just stands on top of this building watching people drive down the road. the first time i saw him i was like wait thats part of a building. then i saw the thing move and i was like screw this im outta here.....
at the glass chapel theres this one window if you light a match and shine it in the window you would expect to see a reflection of the match right? wrong, you get a reflection of a upside down cross. i swear on all this because me and my sister saw this happen and once again i ran like a little girl. oh and everybody knows what an upside down cross symbolizes right? in case you dont know its a satanic mark.....
at this one slightly hidden/very private neighborhood for all the super super rich peevers(snobbish people that live in palos verdes) theres this one mansion that belongs to the Rennesalear? family. its that family or another dont know. but anyways on the drive up to the home all of a sudden all the white gates turn blue and the fog gets unbearable. me and my friends were halfway up the driveway before we couldnt handle it anymore and were like screw this we are outta here. didnt get a chance to see the house but supposedly the scariest looking house in palos verdes. cant remember but i think the family that lived there got murdered/committed suicide or something like that......
and last but not least the infamous palos verdes lighthouse. they say that on some nights you can actually see a ghost walking around the top of lighthouse near the light part. i havent seen it but people all swear to have seen such....

well you guys you heard it from me. if anybody doesnt believe me i am more then welcome to take you to these places. but i aint staying for long because when it comes to these kinds of things i think its just better to leave those places alone.

Hey aznpooky,

I'm up for a PV haunted drive. Let's get some people together and go one night.

WOW! I wish I could go, but I'd probably run away! I actually have another story, but no one sees any ghosts in this one.

My suitemates here at OU live in Guthrie, Oklahoma. There's a mansion there that was a children's home called the Masonic Children's Home (actually a boys orphanage) that's been around since back in the 20s. It's been shut down since like the early 40s. The mansion is surrounded by a large gated fence. The guys took me by it at night once when I was up there and it was so scary looking. All the windows are just open or broken and it's just really decreped. Since my suitemates were kids they've heard that satanic cults would hide in there, and it's apparently been on the news a few times. So I asked the guys if they've ever been there and they said they've been a couple of times, but it was too sketchy to go inside. But my suitemate Brandon went another time with another friend (they were in 6th grade) and jumped the big fence in the back yard...they were coming up on the back porch, which has like 2 big pillars and a staircase and when they got to the top of the stair there was what they thought was a dog carcass that was completely mutilated. There was blood all over the back porch and little patches of fur everywhere. (I'm thinking RUN, but the guys didn't.) They walked around the dog and were walking into the door when they heard voices inside and they thought they were caught. They turned and ran across the yard, jumped the fence, and rode their bikes home. That's pretty much it.

Any other scary stories?

Friend of mine told me that him and some other people decided to stop the car to step outside and smoke a cigarette. They pulled off to the side of the road...this happened at night time and the road is deep inside some woods. Anyway, they were smoking when all of a sudden they hear a baby crying....they all freaked out and drove out. Now, this is where it gets kind of scary. The car they were riding in was fairly dirty. When they went to a gas stating to get gas, they noticed a hand print(about a size of a small baby) on top of the trunk. Well, they later heard that a baby had died around that area some time ago......

Any more stories???

Not a ghost story but definitely strange. I had 2 roommates when I was in college. We had a kitchen clock that ran off batteries. One day we noticed that the clock had stopped. We noticed it a couple of days later and it was on the exact time. I asked my roommates if they changed the batteries and adjusted the time. They denied ever touching the clock, which I believe because we were all lazy

Second one:

I used to live in a house that was built on top of an old Indian burial ground. We experienced strange things going on in the house. For example, the light at the top of the stairs would be on and the only person in the house was me. I would turn it off, and it would be back on about 30 minutes later... (the switch operated from two points) and the switch was in the same position as I had left it. We would also find doors that were opened and were closed maybe 15 minutes before. Sometimes you would get a cold draft in the room in one particular area in the middle of summer.

Definitely some strange stuff.

hey mark,
im down with that, but lets go in a good size group like about 5 of us so that way if anything goes down we all die together. no seriously though if you guys want i will give you a tour of pv but the glass chapel thing dont work anymore because they got security lights now that turn on when they detect movement. scared the shit out of one night and then i realized what they had done and the light shines directly on the window so no reflection can be seen. well the other places i can show you. the man in the white is definitely weird ass shit. i will give anybody the keys to my car for a day if they go up to the man and snatch his hood. but i swear if anything happens to you im driving the hell away from there. supposedly the guy was once a father and is standing there watching the house of this one kid that raped his daughter or something like that. dunno but the dude is real ive seen him like 3-4 times now.

Spirit possession
and how to avoid it

from http://www.inq7.net/lif/2001/oct/23/lif_5-1.htm

How to avoid spirit possession

1. Have a positive, cheerful attitude. Since on the mental and spirit plane "like attracts like," a positive attitude will attract positive and benign spirits to you.

2. Maintain harmony and balance in your mind, body and spirit. Keep your emotional side especially in check and not prone to outbursts of anger.

3. Avoid being in the company of highly negative people or going to negative places. Negative individuals can sap your energy and drain you, thereby making spirit possession easier. The same in places with negative or earthbound spirits, for example, hospitals, cemeteries, wakes or haunted houses.

4. Remember you have free will. You are the master of your own life and destiny. Do not allow another entity to conquer or over-power your will. Remember even God respects our will and will not do anything to go against it. Only evil spirits try to overpower our will. Do not succumb to such attempts. Assert your will over any other entity and command it to "Begone!"

5. Carry protective or sacred objects with you. If you are a Christian, you may carry with you some powerful religious objects that you believe in. For example, St. Benedict's medal, which was specially charged or blessed by an authorized Benedictine Priest, can help protect you against demonic possession. If you believe in quartz crystals or amulets, have one specially blessed or charged by a competent person to protect you.

6. Practice discernment. If an evil spirit is present, you can sense this. Your body will react in a different way compared to the presence of a good spirit. Learn to distinguish them. Discernment is one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit according to St. Paul.

I'll PM you. Maybe we can start a thread in the So Cal section and see how much interest we get in a Holloween Fright Ride.
