im in the market for a new phone. the one i am on currently with At&t is a samsung flip phone, but its the second one ive had in a year and both get the same problems. signal here one second, gone the next. try and make a call and "call not allowed" or "call failed" before it even makes a connection.
i have also been through 2 motorolas, not happy with them
id hate to drop the dime on the I-phone, so im thinking of a Nokia 6555.
anyone have any phones they are happy with??

Blackberry Pearl.
I just picked up a brand new warranty replacement for it today. Battery release button fell off, trackball sticks (only trying to scroll up), it recently started disconnecting from the EDGE network and ending up on GPRS which meant no data sending or receiving for some reason. Lastly the thing did not physically wear well at all. All of these are things they acknowledged as common when I arrived there today. I was told I'm the 8th person today to get a warranty replacement for the Pearl.
Aside from that, I dig the BlackBerry abilities, great web browsing, and it WAS a decent phone up until recently. I'm hoping to get another 6 months out of it to see if anything new comes after the Curve.
If you're limited to BB due to your office or anything (like me because of our BB Enterprise Server) it's a great way to go.

my SE P1i is the shiznit!
but the dropping of calls could possibly be due to the service more than the phone itself. i mean you have gone through all those phones with the same problem, could be time for a new carrier.

LG Chocolate with Verizon
Pros: Looks nice, its a slider phone (which I wanted), great picture quality, semi-large screen, half touch features, great speakers for music/ringtones.
Cons: Sometimes makes random phone calls due to the phone unlocking after something touches the side keys by accident, small numbers making texting quite difficult, battery life could be better, and sometimes the phone lags after using the touch features.

Sounds like you got the Samsung C417. We had plenty of issues and complaints from customers regarding that phone. But I could be wrong.
I got the Blackberry 8800 and <3 it. Very simple and easy to use. But it all depends on what you like and would be a good idea to put down what you prefer in a phone. IMHO I'm not very fond of the iPhone. IIRC lack of mass test and picture message. I'm a die hard QWERTY type a guy and I'm an impatient person to poke poke at each letter
AT&T/Cingular hasn't been up to standards with their reception ever since the title change. Feels good to quit Cingular corp.
