I think it is close to a 7-8% return annually that will double your investment every 7 years.

dude this powerball thing is rediculous! I went to the express subway for lunch today which is inside plaid pantry and the way it works is subway gives you your sub then you pay at the plaid pantry counter....anyways I waited in line for 15 minutes to pay! the line was winding throught rows at the store! It was all people buying powerball tickets! They had people behind the countere printing tickets before people asked for them so they would be ready!! I was like WTF!!! Is it like that anywhere else??

The general rule is 7 /10 or 10/7. A 7% return, rolled into the investment doubles every 10 years. A 10% return, rolled back into the investment, doubles every 7 years.

However, even in the friggin bank, 65 M at 1% a year, gets you a nice salary of 650K a year, without every touching the principal.

I could live off that.

Mike - I finally found a place Saturday night to buy tickets. Apparently all 7/11s in Bucks county stop selling at 7PM. I finally found one on Street Road, down near Trevose. When I got the tix, I had this eerie feeling, like... maybe I'm actually gonna win (yeah right!).

I get home, and the eerie feeling is... My tickets are dated for 12/25. I didn't have a number to match on Saturday, maybe that's a good omen?

Spadx - We see that around here when its a huge jackpot. Many places either devote someone (and a line) just to the lottery counter, OR, provide paying customers who are purchasing non-lottery items priority. You should've just sat down and ate the sandwich.
