Also, create another foundation/scholarship to give good music schools good loaners for teacher training. I played on some REALLY BAD instruments when taking my non-major instrument courses.
As long as there's no RAP involved. Oh wait, they don't use instruments anyway. They just seat someone else's music, claim it as their own, come up with one word, find 500 that rhyme with it and say it's original.

"Yo I'm an originator, no I'm not a duplicator"...damn, if I had a nickel for every time I heard that ina rap song...

Rap...karaoke...same thing...

There hasn't been a whole lot of hip-hop I've liked recently (mostly because of the growing corporatism) but, what you say about stealing other people's work has been the foundation for American pop music for the last 50 years. Take a look at the charts. Originality is not a major factor these days.

I'm in. My boss gets nervous when someone in the office goes around collecting $ from everyone for a large "group buy". If we won he'd be the only car in the lot!

I think my main expenditure would be to gather up my closest family and disapear to some remote South Pacific Island. I'd pull a "The Village" and buy my independence from society.

I'm truly sorry you feel that way.

I teach Music. Rap is music. Rap in fact, is a fairly good tool in teaching music in the fact that it sets the rhythm apart from the melody. As a pedagogical tool, it's indespensible. As far as it being music, well, jasonw touched on it. Shame on you for letting mass-media being your sole access-point to rap and hip-hop.

There's more I can say, but long-and-short of it: if the instruments are used for Hip-Hop and Rap, I wouldn't be the least bit irked. In fact, a pair of turntables would probably have to go into my dream home. . . it's one of the few instruments I don't know how to play.

Oh yeah, and I'd also have urinals put into my dream home if I had the big bucks (but I digress). . .
