Default Pre vs Tour

Anyone have experience with either phone? Im more inclined to wait on a pre ( cant get one atm b/c im on a employee acct deal) vs a Tour. The Tour looks nice and has some good features, but I have extreme hate right now for the BB lineup because EVERYONE has one... and seems EVERYONE has same ringers for calls and txt msg so it drives me apeshit.

Just looking for impressions and opinions on both phones!

I work there and have used both. The pre is over rated, get the tour. I know it's annoying that everyone has one but it's a nice phone and blackberry phones are more reliable than palm phones.

it's amazing how far the cell phones have come. i had a motorola teletac 250 back in 1996. back then the nokia was shiznit. i had a cellular plan that was 30 minutes and something like $0.50 per minute afterwards. those were the good old days of the pager.

i still have my razr from 2006 and the only reason i updated my phone is 'cause i switched from verizon to cingular (at&t). pretty soon 2010 will be here and i'll be sporting ancient technology still. i just use my phone for phone calls though (no texting, no web use, no games, rarely send pics/vids, etc).

i had a pre, the problems with sprint customer service will have me switching the account that hasn't already been switched to ATT, the phone itself is OK, but the thing that really sets the best phones apart IMO, is the apps, which the iPhone owns, not familiar with the tour, i'd try it over the Pre, provided it's not Sprint

http://www.howardforums.com is a really good cellphone resource. i haven't used it in a few years as i've reverted from smartphones to a so-simple-there's-no-camera phone.

I have a Pre and I *really* like it.
It still has some growth to do before it can truely compete with the iPhone and some of the other smart phones, but WebOS is very versatile, easy to use, relatively responsive (compared to WinMo).

What it lacks in customization, apps (for now), etc are unfortunate, but the homebrew community is already hard at work fixing that sort of stuff for fun. I see the Pre turning into one hell of a nice device as things mature for it.

Too many people trash talk the Palm Pre, without giving it a chance... I went from having an Iphone for over 2 years to a palm pre (mainly bc att wanted a 500 deposit to start service with them, I had been using a 1st gen Iphone unlocked on Tmobiles network) The palm pre is a GREAT phone....though there are pros and cons to it. The webOS is great, multitasking is great... battery life is not so great unless you keep GPS off. Having a plastic touch screen not so great as it does get scratched.... There have been no developers signed on to make Apps for it... so the ones available while free, are very limited right now as to selection. IMHO... the palm pre is an alternative to an IPHONE.. but certainly not a replacement.

hmm...... there are only 32 apps avail, and looking through about 10 I see nothing about having to pay... they all appear to still be free.
