Pre-production model sounds right. Happens to a lot of cars like this. I remember reading a thread from a guy that works at a scrap yard in AZ? on how Dodge brought in a few new Rams pre-launch and had them crushed. Its a legal thing.

whats the legal purpose behind it?

 

Its a pre-production model so they cannot sell it. Like selling a prototype it would open them up to too many quality issues etc

 

Couldn't they have put it in some kind of porsche museum

 

And have a possibly inferior example represent the model for eternity?
