I hope this is not too political for the forum, but I feel I must say this.

We Americans are a very trusting people...almost niave. It is because of this that we don't have things like armed soldiers in our airports. PLEASE don't let this change the way we live our lives...otherwise whomever is responsible for this will have won the only battle that really matters.

It saddens my to have to say this, but I think it's too late. Like Pearl Harbor, this will change America forever. I think we've been living on borrowed time for way too long. The last WTC terrorist attack was in 93. The really frightening thing is that these a** holes have the capability to coordinate 4 east-west hujackings at the same time with such precision. What else do they have up their sleeve. We haven't even seen chemical, biological, radiological, small scale nukes yet.

President Bush, declare a national emergency, appoint a cabinet-level anti-terrorism guru, divert gobs of funding, coordinate federal-state-local-special jurisdiction cooperation and joint training and info sharing. And hurry!

I believe this will cause the US to rethink their military strategy and gear it towards terrorism rather than cold-war type attacks.

All the Satellite defense systems money can buy could not have stopped this. We have never had a good anti-terrorism procedure in place, probably because we've always valued the freedom that we have. unfortunataly, the sense of security that we have all live with is now shattered and its time to rethink some of the policies.

While i dont like the military security with Uzis in several foreign airports I've been through, I must say that I like the security that it seems to represent.

The terrorists succeeded today not only in hijacking 4 planes simultaneousl despite our airport security measures, tracked them to targets with close to pinpoint accuracy, killing thousands of innocents; AND shattering the sense of security that our American way of life requires. Life will never be the same here again.

I just hope that out of our anger and fear and sadness will come renewed commitment for new solutions to both maintain our way of life and allow for justice to be served to those backing such an activity. We cannot let them win.

(Sorry, I tried to stay as UNpolitical as possible on this as I could)
