i used it a few times for NYC and Baltimore... i think it only works well for bigger cities and for last minute plans.

I offered somewhat lower than the normal prices but made the assumption they were had lots of vacancies and were not expecting to fill them, so any $ is better than no $.

i think I paid $45 a night at the hilton in Baltimore's inner harbor......

Lowball it and if it gets rejected bump it up a few $$$

There is an article posted on the internet for a trick to bid on priceline.com.

You need to use some tricks to figure out their lowest limit.

there is a good website for priceline/hotwirs info. I use it for car rentals and hotels often with great results. This past weekend I got a 150 dollar room for 85/ night and a rental car for 12 dollars/day.
