I agree. I would have tried to be a little more diplomatic about it, but it gets the point across.

Listen, you're old enough to be in college. Stay and go to school where she is. Not going to college? Fine, stay and get a job. Why are you following your family at 19 when you love this girl? This way you won't wonder what would have happened with her if you wouldn't have moved.

see i would love to stay, and no im not in college..my dad has his own contracting business, and i work with him. to live here on long island is just weayyyy to expensive, and i already figured out that with the money im making now, i wouldnt be able to survive here.

if in a given relationship you are going to be too far apart to feasibly see each other every day, one party needs to move, or make concrete plans to move within a reasonable time frame (few months-year max). otherwise might as well break up at that point cause it is most definitely over.

Chances are your relationship will not last. That being said, there's nothing wrong with getting the promise rings. I bought one for a girl I dated for 3 years. We were supposed to get engaged but ended up breaking up.

I don't regret buying the ring. She probably threw it away eventually, so don't spend too much money on it.
