Default ps3 at costco.com

so they sold a bunch from their website. when i went there, the site wouldn't even load as the server was bombarded. what determines who gets through to buy one and who just gets stuck? is it internet provider, etc?

first come first serve, and if two people try to access the server in the same instant then the one with fewer "hops" between their isp and Costco's servers wins.

you can try this:

click start--->run
type "cmd" (without quotes), press ENTER
in the command box type "tracert www.costco.com" (without quotes), press ENTER

You will see the journey your computer takes when accessing the costco.com website.

Can you further explain this please? I'd like to learn what it is and how it works.

the tracert command is a shortened "trace route". It displays each computer your data goes through between your house and whatever web server you are accessing. I don't know why the connections higher than 16 usually time out.

Costco takes something out of inventory once you add it to cart. If you were able to add it to your cart before they ran out you were secured. Checking out was another story. That took over 5 hours. I woke up about 1 hour before 8:00 pacific. I logged on with my e-mail, membership number, and credit card number before the server was loaded and was able to add it to cart when they released it around 7:40.

Umm, wasn't it 1000 XBOX 360 Core systems? Not PS3s...
