If you havent, update to the latest firmware.

In order to pick up a movie where you left off, you have to actually stop the movie, not just pause and turn the machine off. The first few times I tried it after getting the firmware that should have enabled it, it didnt work. But a week or two ago, everything seemed to function correctly. Can even take the disc out to play a game, put the movie back in, and it picked it up where I had stopped.

Really? I can turn mine off while it's playing and I'll be able to resume from where it left off.
