Default Question about paypal

i've never sold anything online using paypal before but I need to sell something.
i know there's a fee for every transaction if i'm not mistaken. is it like 3%?
i'm trying to sell something that's $150. i know people usually say they will cover it or the buyer covers the fee, but isn't there an option to say that it's a gift and avoid the fee?

It's always free to send money to friends and family when you use your PayPal balance or bank account. Fees apply only if the sender uses a credit or debit card, or if you receive any payment for goods or services.

So there is a way around it otherwise it's 2.9% plus 30 cent fee.

i got the impression from his post that he was selling something online and trying to find a way out of paying the fee.

Yes, so if the person paying him sends money from a paypal account or bank account linked to paypal and doesn't say it's for goods/services then there will be no fee charged.

Yes. Paypal has a "gift" option for sending money and there is no fee. There also is no Paypal protection so most buyers wouldn't want to do this unless they know the seller.

I always send money via pay pal with my CC, that way if there is ever a dispute, AmEx will take care of it when paypal will do nothing. If the seller doesn't say anything about adding 3% for CC transactions, I basically say **** you and never had a problem.

What this guy said! I use it when I'm sending money to someone I trust.
