Default Question about unlocked cell phones

Hey guys, right now I have a samsung exclaim w/sprint but i want to upgrade to a nokia 6700 classic unlocked. Is it simply a matter of taking the sim card out of the exclaim and putting it in the 6700 and that's all? I've never dealt with an unlocked cell phone before, not sure how it works..THANKS

Doesn't Sprint use a CDMA network? SIM cards are for GSM networks, not CDMA... so it may not be so simple.

Not exactly. Sprint is CDMA and does not use SIM cards. You would need to call Spring with the EMEI/EMID (I forgot the acronym) from the back of the Nokia, and they should be able to activate it.

Edit: Make sure that the Nokia is a clean phone (not sure where you got it from) if the previous owner has not payed bills or it was reported stolen, the phone may be locked and you will be SOL.

sprint phones are different than the SIM card phones, so you most likely won't be able to get it to work, good luck though

Honestly your best bet is to give them a call. Tell them you are going on a business trip and you are going to purchase an unlocked phone that will need to be activated.

You can make up your own situation.

They will tell you right away if they are going to do it.

Nokia 6700 phone only comes in GSM platform.
Sprint is CDMA. That specific phone is not compatible with your network. It will only work on T-Mobile or AT&T.
